Electronic controller for compressor packs on 18-Din Rail
GENERAL DESCRIPTION • USE OF THE MANUAL • WARNINGS
EWCM 9990 18DIN is a family of controllers dedicated to managing the
production room of a refrigerator plant, where there are simple, multistage
or differently powered compressors and the fans of the condensing unit.
All the operations of configuration and control of the state of the machine
can be done with the LCD keyboard supplied. Menu navigation is user-
friendly: two navigation languages (English + local language) are available as
standard, defined according to the product code.
Access to the information is managed through a series of passwords, that is
it is possible to hide / protect access allowing use only for dedicated
    personnel.
The Quick Start Menu (see the special section) is dedicated to the initial
configuration of the machine / plant and it allows assigning system
resources quickly and efficiently. Typically reserved for the system
    Administrator.
The Administrator Menu (see the special section) is dedicated to the
system administrator and it allows access to the Quick start Menu and all
the parameters for configuration and use: the administrator will also
manage the access passwords for the users and experts (installers and
    technicians).
The Service Menu (see the special section) is typically dedicated to the
administrator and the Technical Assistance Service and it allows using the
accessory Copy Card (see the special section), the software development
tools and managing the diagnostics and the application control.
    Technical data
    • possibility of configuring different types of machines (single suction single
    delivery, double suction single delivery);
    • Compatibility with a vast range of refrigerants
    • 19 relay outputs completely configurable with relative alarm inputs under
power for controlling simple, multistage or differently powered
    compressors and condenser fans
    • 2 analog outputs for compressor inverter management and 1 analog
    output for fan inverter
    • 2 inputs with pressure transducer for the compressors section and an
input with pressure probe for the fans section or with NTC probes
    Functions
    • Inverter management for compressors and fans
    • Proportional control, PID and Neutral Zone
    • Algorithms for Energy Saving
    • Dynamic setpoint on suction and delivery
    • Rotation of the compressors of equal power (homogeneous); adjustment
of fans with fixed sequence or rotation
    • Management of probe alarms and minimum and maximum pressure
switch alarms both for the compressors section and for the fans section
    • Two programmable Setpoints: “normal” rate and “reduced” rate
    • Safety System that performs a continuous check-control of the hardware
operation of the instrument and that, in case of damage of the EWCM,
activates an alarm output to divert the control of the refrigerating unit to
an emergency plant that assures minimal functionality until experienced
    personnel step in
    • Complete alarms management (autodiagnostics and saving alarms)
All the Menus are described on the following pages with the related
    examples.
The parameters Menus are divided by type.
All the Menus previously described are protected by passwords that may or
    may not assure access.
The general user will instead, with the ‘function’ keys and the navigation
keys (see the special section), be able to check the state of the system, view
the alarms, activate functions, etc. without the aid of passwords.
Using the Clocks and Time Frames Menu it is also possible to set date and
time and, with a weekly calendar, manage correct use of the plant.
    IMPORTANT WARNINGS
The availability of and access to the information is determined by the
settings defined by the Administrator and by the model used.
It is the responsibility of the System Administrator to allow access to the
various Menus to qualified personnel who can install or perform the special
    maintenance on the product.
The high level of configurability and technology of the product, despite its
simple and easy use, requires a suitable study of the plant and the
applications to be able to make the device and the plant work in the best
    way.
For any doubts and/or explanations, please contact the Eliwell technical
    support Service.

    USER INTERFACE
To operate on the instrument a ‘EWCM KEYBOARD’ is used that
has an LCD graphic display, 3 LEDs, 8 keys divided into 3(+3)
‘function keys’ (see KEYS) and 5 keys for navigation in the Menus
and writing (editing parameters, functions etc.).
The display and the LEDs permit viewing the monitored quantities,
the machine status and the mode of operation, besides the
possibility of appropriately configuring the parameters for the
    operation of the machine.
On switching on the instrument the LCD display will show the
name ‘ELIWELL.’ This will be followed by the System information
(SYSTEM INFO) indicating the Hardware (HW) version, Firmware
(FW) and Date (Date). Save and always communicate this
information to the Technical Support Service in case of need.
The instrument will lastly show the main menu (that is the main
view). The Menus are available in 2 languages (for instance Italian -
local language - and English by default) according to the product
code. Check the feasibility and availability of codes with the Sales
    Department.
    KEYS
There are 8 (3+5(3+2)) keys on the keyboard.
    ‘FUNCTION’ KEYS
Main Menu - see function keys table -
from the main menu the keys that we will call ‘function’ keys are
    active:
    • The 3 ‘function keys F1, F2, F3 - are associated with the icons on
the display (see following page section
    Main Menu • Display and
    Icons
    )
    • The 3 ‘function’ keys LH - left (left), OK, RH - right (right) *
    The ‘function’ keys include:
    • a
    direct
action - that is ‘press and release’ (accesses Menu /
    activates function)
    • an
    associated
action - that is ‘press and hold (accesses Menu)
The table gives the standard default actions for each key.
    In particular:
    • LH, RH keys: each time the key is pressed it changes the unit of
    measurement of the delivery/suction display
Each ‘function’ key can be set by parameter to access a Menu or
to activate a function of the user’s choice.
    Keypad lock
The keyboard can be ‘locked’ to
    prevent accidental use.
Any one ‘function’ key can be parameter-set to allow it to be
    unlocked.

The navigation keys have only direct actions - press and release
Each Menu is marked by a heading indicating the name in capital
letters and the nr. of ‘pages’ of the Menu.
    Each Menu has 3 ‘items.’
The ‘item’ on which you are operating is always highlighted by the
    cursor (white on black background)
The ‘edit’ mode is active when the cursor is flashing.
The table gives the standard default actions for each key.
    In particular:
    • OK/RH key: both provide access to the following menu and (if in
edit mode) confirm the set value.
IMPORTANT: these keys always change the settings
    • LH key: exits edit mode (without saving the set value) and
    returns to the previous menu.
It is always recommended to use this key (pressing in sequence
several times) to exit the Menus if accidentally displayed and if
you do not want to change the settings
    • UP/DOWN key: the items of the menus scroll both vertically and
    horizontally (e.g. menu CopyCard/Download)
